Terms of Service

Introduction

These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User," "you," or "your") and Ask Steve, LLC ("Ask Steve," "we," "us," or "our") governing your access to and use of the Ask Steve browser extension, the Ask Steve website, and all content, services and products available at or through our website or browser extension (taken together, "Extension"). By installing, accessing, or using the Extension, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Extension.

Service Description and Plans

Ask Steve is a browser extension that allows users to interact with Large Language Models (LLMs) and other APIs through a convenient interface.

Account Creation and Security

To use the Extension, you must create an account by providing a valid email address and password. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify Ask Steve immediately of any unauthorized use of your account or password.

API Key Usage and Responsibility

Ask Steve may require you to provide API keys to access certain LLM services. These keys are stored locally on your device and are not transmitted to Ask Steve's servers. You are solely responsible for the security and management of your API keys. Ask Steve shall not be liable for any unauthorized access or misuse of your API keys.

Payment and Subscription Terms

The Premium and Enterprise plans require a paid subscription. Subscription fees and terms will be presented to you at the time of purchase. You authorize Ask Steve to charge your chosen payment method for the subscription fees. Subscriptions may automatically renew unless canceled in accordance with the provided instructions.

LLM and API Service Providers

Ask Steve facilitates access to various LLM services and APIs provided by third parties. These providers have their own terms of service and privacy policies which govern your use of their services. Ask Steve is not responsible for the practices of these providers. You acknowledge and agree that LLM and API providers may use your request data, including the content of your queries, for their own purposes, which may include training and improving their models.

Limitations of Functionality and Liability

The Extension's functionality is dependent on the capabilities and limitations of the connected LLM and API services. Ask Steve does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of information generated by LLMs or APIs through the Extension. Ask Steve shall not be liable for any damages arising from your use of or reliance on LLM-generated or API-returned content.

Prohibited Uses and User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the Extension for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations.
  • Infringe upon the intellectual property rights of others.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Extension's functionality or servers.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Extension or its systems.
  • Collect or store personal information of other users.
  • Engage in any activity that could harm Ask Steve or its users.

Intellectual Property and Copyright

Ask Steve and its licensors own all intellectual property rights in and to the Extension. You agree not to modify, copy, distribute, transmit, display, perform, reproduce, publish, license, create derivative works from, transfer, or sell any information, software, products, or services obtained from the Extension. You are solely responsible for any content you submit through the Extension and must have all necessary rights to do so.

Modifications, Termination, and Survival

Ask Steve reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Extension or any part thereof at any time without notice. We may also modify these Terms at any time by posting the revised Terms on our website or through the Extension. Your continued use of the Extension after any such modifications constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. We may terminate your access to the Extension for any reason, including violation of these Terms.

Disclaimers, Limitations of Liability, and Indemnity

THE EXTENSION IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. ASK STEVE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE EXTENSION, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES. YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD ASK STEVE HARMLESS FROM ANY CLAIMS, LOSSES, DAMAGES, LIABILITIES, INCLUDING ATTORNEY'S FEES, ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THE EXTENSION OR VIOLATION OF THESE TERMS.

Miscellaneous

This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between us and you concerning the subject matter hereof, and they may only be modified by a written amendment signed by us, or by us posting a revised version.

If any part of this Agreement is held invalid or unenforceable, that part will be construed to reflect the parties' original intent, and the remaining portions will remain in full force and effect. A waiver by either party of any term or condition of this Agreement or any breach thereof, in any one instance, will not waive such term or condition or any subsequent breach thereof.

You may assign your rights under this Agreement to any party that consents to, and agrees to be bound by, its terms and conditions; we may assign our rights under this Agreement without condition. This Agreement will be binding upon and will inure to the benefit of the parties, their successors and permitted assigns.

Except to the extent applicable law, if any, provides otherwise, this Agreement, any access to or use of our Extension will be governed by the laws of the state of Arkansas, U.S.A., excluding its conflict of law provisions, and the proper venue for any disputes arising out of or relating to any of the same will be the state and federal courts located in Benton County, Arkansas.
